Debre Genet Gelila Mariam Church has some of the oldest and most holy religious books written on parchments and depiction of
St Mary, Jesus Christ, as well as Saints and Martyrs.  Until now, these valuable religious artifacts have been maintained and protected by dedicated priests.

After Centuries of service, the very structure of the building has become weak and is now in need of emergency renovation.  Failing to save this Church will be an immense loss as its beautiful religious and priceless paintings mounted on the walls are aging and in the process of falling apart.

It is indeed of utmost importance to renovate and maintain this special church and preserve its priceless religious icons and paintings. By doing so, Ethiopia’s long standing history in upholding its faith spanning over thousands of years will in turn be preserved.
